Leitourgia – The Work of the People

Leitourgia – The Work of the People is a liturgical guide for planning and leading worship services. Developed by the Christian Literature Fund, it serves as a practical tool for ministers, congregations, lay persons, and anyone interested in the study and practice of Liturgy.

Rooted in the Reformed tradition, yet ecumenical in spirit and scope, this handbook welcomes all who seek to plan and lead meaningful worship. Built on a “covenantal rhythm” in which God calls, speaks, and restores, it offers a sound theological framework for every part of the service – from gathering before God to being sent out as His people.

It includes detailed orders for sacraments such as Baptism and Holy Communion, as well as guidance for weddings, funerals, and public confirmation of faith. The book also contains statements of faith like the Belhar and Accra Confessions, and an African Confession of Faith.

With a three-year Revised Common Lectionary, a guide to liturgical colours, and extensive scriptural indices, Leitourgia helps connect biblical truth with the realities of contemporary worship.
